Welcome to Town Mountain!

The Town Mountain community of Asheville, NC, encompasses the neighborhoods and individual homes along Town Mountain Road (NC 694) from College Street in downtown Asheville to the Blue Ridge Parkway. This beautiful stretch of roadway rises nearly 1500 feet in elevation over approximately seven miles. Who We Are

Friends of Town Mountain (FOTM) is a citizen’s organization working to build a strong community in the Town Mountain Road area. Support from our membership and Board of Directors, along with generous donations, have helped Friends of Town Mountain become a widely respected, results-oriented organization dedicated to the interests of the community. We are recognized as a group of citizens who are well-informed, well-organized and actively engaged advocates for a range of sensible improvements.

What We Do

OUR EFFORTS ARE FOCUSED IN THREE KEY AREAS:
• Building a strong community
• Caring for the safety of our residents
• Advocating for issues affecting quality of life

BUILDING A STRONG COMMUNITY
• Actively keeping Town Mountain members informed of news and events of importance to the community
• Holding an annual summer membership meeting / social and fall barbeque
Maintaining a FOTM website, Facebook and Nextdoor pages

CARING FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR RESIDENTS
• Establishing partnerships and close working relationships with public safety personnel and organizations
• Communicating with FOTM Members on public safety issues, including establishing neighborhood watch programs
Reducing motorcycle racing and automobile seeding on Town Mountain Road

ADVOCATING FOR ISSUES AFFECTING QUALITY OF LIFE
• Keeping informed of city and county issues that may impact the quality of life on Town Mountain and attending public hearings that are of interest to the community
• Addressing issues affecting the maintenance, stability and safety of Town Mountain Road, including litter, vegetation cutting, storm water and erosion control
• Supporting steep slope subdivision ordinances and regulations
